To the Point Greenhouse Effect and its Causes

Do you know it?

Naturally, greenhouse gases are required by the Earth to control its temperature. However, when the percentage of greenhouse gases is increased, It causes a problem called the Greenhouse effect.

Definition

The greenhouse effect is a process in which the average annual temperature of the terrestrial and water surface is increased than its normal limits.
This is happening due to the increase of certain Greenhouse Gases - Carbon dioxide, Methane, Water vapor, Nitrous-oxide, CFCs, etc - in the Atmosphere.

Naturally, these gases form a layer around the Biosphere called the greenhouse. and it controls the Heatwaves to balance the temperature of the Earth's surface.

What will happen, if we remove the Greenhouse?

if we remove the Greenhouse, then the annual average temperature of the earth's surface would be about minus -20 Degree Centigrade.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Use of Greenhouse in our life

Countries having a cold climate and those are located near the Arctic circle  - Scandinavian Countries, Northern Europe, Siberia, winter temperature drops below -30 to -50 degree centigrade -  use glass in windows and doors which trap heat waves and the houses remain warm, as compared to outer climate.

Keep in mind that in winter, the countries near the arctic circle have to face hazardous weather with heavy snowfall and strong winds.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Q: - Why do we call it the Green House Effect?

When the ratio of main greenhouse gases is increased in the atmosphere by human activity. The greenhouse layer will be thicker and thicker.
The Greenhouse returns most of the terrestrial radiation (Heatwaves) to the Earth's surface, and it causes an increase in the average annual temperature, therefore, it is called the Greenhouse effect.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the last five years from-2014 to 2018 - recorded the warmest years in the last 139 years.

In the cold climate, the Greenhouse Technique is used to grow unseasonal plants in an artificial greenhouse.

The Netherlands is the country that has the largest number of greenhouses in the world.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Let's see how the Greenhouse effect takes place

Carbon dioxide is the major contributor gas to the greenhouse effect. Naturally, the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere is about 0.03%. that is used by plants in Photosynthesis, therefore, the amount of major greenhouse gases remains in balance.

Carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases are produced by the combustion of Coal, Oil, Natural Gas, and many other fossil fuels in the Industries, Thermal Power Plants, vehicles, etc -  that cause an increase in the number of major greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Top Five Countries Producing Greenhouse Gas.

According to the International Energy Agency Statics, the top Five Greenhouse producing countries are - China, the USA, India Russian federation, Japan, etc - these countries Produce 57% of the world's total greenhouse gases.

Top Five Green House Producing Countries

  • China 29%
  • USA 16%,
  • India 07%
  • Russian Federation 05%
  • Japan 05%

---------------------------------------------------------------

Step By Step Process of Greenhouse Effect

Step 01:
When the Sunlight hits the Earth's surface, the Earth's Surface absorbs sunlight and warms up. In return, the Earth Radiates certain heatwaves in the form of infra-red radiation.

Step 2
Naturally, Infrared radiation is sent back from the Ground to the Atmosphere. this radiation is passed through the atmosphere. In this way, the Surface temperature remains in balance.

Step 03
When greenhouse gases increase in the atmosphere, they form a layer around the Earth's surface called greenhouse.

The Greenhouse does not allow the terrestrial Radiation (Heatwaves) to Pass through the Green House, therefore those Heat waves are reflected back to the earth's surface (as the tennis ball returns in hands by touching the wall).

Step 04
The average temperature of the Earth's surface is increasing gradually, which is called global warming.

Causes of the Greenhouse effect in points

Use of Fossil Fuels

  • Industrial Use
  • Motor Engines.
  • Coal combustion.
  • Agriculture fertilizers.
  • Burning of Cities wastes

---------------------------------------------------------------

Greenhouse effect facts

  • The greenhouse effect is responsible for the temperature increase.
  • By increasing temperature, Ice of Green land ice sheets and glaciers of the South and North poles melt.
  • The sea level is increased, which is dangerous for residential areas along the coastal regions.
